A dynamic, US based multi-national company has an immediate opportunity for a Legal Counsel for its German subsidiary to provide services for its European market. The position reports directly to European Managing Director and indirectly to General Counsel of the US-based parent company.


  • Oversee Company's data protection programs
  • Draft, negotiate and review contracts and develop where applicable standard formats, to ensure that the Company's interests are adequately protected
  • Provide legal advice in corporate and commercial matters, including in the areas of contracts, corporate structuring, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, litigation support, employment, data protection and privacy, licensing, advertising, social media and e-commerce
  • Review, draft and advise on company policies
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, shared between HR & Legal
  • Provide legal support to all business functions within the Company, including Management, Marketing, Finance, Sales, Human Resources, and IT
  • Manage and collaborate with external counsel in performing all of the above duties

  • Law degree, minimum first state examination, for example as a business lawyer, graduate Lawyer or Master of
  • LawPractical commercial legal experience between 5-8 years
  • Ability to formulate, advise on and implement legal strategy within a multinational business context
  • Working knowledge of all areas of law specified above
  • Expertise in data protection law required
  • Good commercial judgment: the ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • German native speakers, must be fluent in English and have the ability to communicate effectively in English with international colleagues
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies, customers, consumers and the business community
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work with international colleagues and external lawyers
  • Law degree, minimum first state examination, for example as a business lawyer, graduate Lawyer or Master of Law
  • Practical commercial legal experience between 5-8 years
  • Ability to advise on EU-wide law as well as the national law of member states
  • Experience working for a US-based global company with international operations and /or international sales and distribution preferred
  • Working knowledge of all areas of law specified above
  • Resident in Germany, Düsseldorf, or surroundings
