The Chemical Process Engineer (m/f/d) at GEA Farm Technologies GmbH in Bönen, works as a staff unit closely with cross-functional teams at 12 GEA sites producing detergents and hygiene products for the dairy farming industry to evaluate workflows, identify bottlenecks and propose innovative solutions to improve productivity, work safety and product quality.

The role in particular contains the following tasks:

  • Standardization of production processes, equipment used and internal process flows.

  • Analyzing the current situation and identifying necessary changes in order to set up the sites efficiently for the future while meeting all legal standards.

  • Perform technical due diligence assessments for potential projects associated to hygiene chemical production, storage, and distribution.

  • Lead management of Change (MOC) techniques to ensure that potential plant/process changes receive appropriate review and are managed through to final handover to site operations teams

  • Design / optimize plant/equipment pre-start-up checks to ensure a safe, incident-free restart.

  • Develop, standardize and implement safety procedures with regard to working with hazardous materials based on best practice.

  • Monitoring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

  • Design, plan and implement the layout of manufacturing equipment to optimize production while optimizing associated costs.

  • Observing, testing, and monitoring production processes and equipment to ensure safety, quality and efficiency targets are met.

  • Lead HAZOP studies / risk assessments.

  • Lead Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA) activities into plant performance deviations.

  • Lead and support teams throughout the entire process from diagnosis through to resolution.

  • Developing operating procedures and create/execute operator trainings.


  • This position requires a deep background in chemical industry

  • 5+ Years experience in Chemical production or blending environment

  • Technical knowledge and experience of processes which handle hazardous materials (corrosive, flammable)

  • HAZOP / HAZID Studies

  • Risk Assessment

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards

  • Project Management

  • Problem solving techniques

  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Self-motivated / pro-active approach

  • Fluent in English language

  • Willingness to travel globally
