In the Global Research & Development (GRD) department we work together on new technologies to reduce the overall CO2-footprint of cement and concrete. We want to be the industry leader on the way to carbon neutrality.

We are looking for a Head of Analytic Center (f/m/d). The position is located in Leimen (near Heidelberg), Germany, and reports to the Director Global Research & Development.

The overall mission of the position holder will be to manage and further develop the Analytic Center to provide the Group with high quality analytical services as well as strong and effective support in Research & Development (R&D) projects and to maintain and strengthen the role as reference lab for the HM Group.

  • Management including Health and Safety and organizational development of the team “Analytic Center”
  • Develop Analytic Center future-oriented with regard to modern measurement methods, equipment, laboratory processes and data management in line with the Group strategy
  • Lead a team of experts to provide first-class analytical services in the fields of physics, chemistry, mineralogy, mortar, and concrete testing
  • Support plants in analytical matters and provide consultancy for lab equipment
  • Support R&D projects
  • Develop and validate analytical methods according to DIN EN ISO 17025
  • Support and fertilize Group-wide knowledge management via trainings and workshops in the fields of cement related analytical methods
  • Member of the VDZ working group “Analytische Chemie”

  • University degree in applied mineralogy, material science, chemical engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in research & development or production of building materials; work experience abroad is of advantage
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, research methodologies, and innovation processes
  • Excellent team leadership capabilities
  • Good organizational, time and project management skills to complete tasks independently and in a time-efficient manner
  • Know-how and application of modern media and standard information technology
  • Very good German and English language skills
