Job Description

We are looking for a

Student Research Assistant (gn)

part-time (working hours are negotiable), to start as soon as possible. The initial contract will be limited to six months, further extensions possible. Together with Jan Niemczik (ESMT Berlin) and Christian Traxler (Hertie School), you will work on projects on Labor Market Regulations, which analyzes the effects of minimum wages. The DFG funded project is part of a new, Berlin based research group.


  • You will support different stages of quantitative research projects, mainly focusing on labor market regulations (such as minimum wages).
  • Your main tasks include data preparation/management, econometric analyses of administrative register data, and the preparation of output (figures, tables).
  • Further duties: (1) communication and coordination between different parts of the research team and public sector agencies in Germany and the EU; (2) support in scoping exercises, that explore feasibility of different project steps.

  • Student with a background in Data Science, Economics, or Public Policy, with experience in data work and a keen interest in labor market regulations.
  • Data management and programming experiences (R, Python, Stata) are key assets.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Regular presence in Berlin is required.
