Jeffrey Hammel Grant

Jeff Hammel is an influential leader with broad financial and operational expertise, including over 20 years in the healthcare space. His career spans auditing, controllership, financial management and senior leadership. Jeff holds an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, as well as a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Indiana University Bloomington. Jeff currently serves as Chief Financial Officer for OakBend Medical Center, an independent healthcare system with 3 hospitals and over 50 additional surgical, physical therapy and nursing home locations in the Houston, Texas metropolitan area. Jeff has built teams achieving excellence, while increasing efficiency and reducing cost. He has twice renegotiated the organization’s debt to improve rates and terms. Jeff played a critical role in successfully guiding through the COVID-19 pandemic. In previous roles, Jeff served as Chief Financial Officer of Cell Medica, a biotechnology company developing cellular immunotherapies for cancer. He managed global financial operations and helped to raise over $100 million in private investment. He also served in roles of increasing responsibility over 11 years at Orthofix International, including his final role as Senior Vice President of Finance. He spent 7 years at Eli Lilly & Company, including his last role as U.S. Controller. Jeff began his career with KPMG as Senior Auditor. Jeff has a strong focus on providing value to the organization every day and developing respectful and trusting relationships. He has always believed that a person’s place or title in the organization does not equate to the value of their contributions or to a level of respect. Jeff respects every person and would not ask anyone to do anything that he would not do himself. He believes that every person in an organization can have good ideas and we all just need to make them feel comfortable and confident in communicating those ideas in a trusting environment. Treat people with respect, prioritize the important things, do the right thing always, do not overcomplicate matters and smile. Jeff does not profess to be an expert in life or business, but he does believe that keeping these five simple things in mind can help to make you successful, whatever your measure of success may be for your life.
