Based in Heidelberg (40%), the Business Manager has full accountability for BD’s Diagnostic Systems business (DS) in Germany and reports to the Business Director Diagnostic Systems CE directly. The Business Manager leads a team of circa 20 people, provides direct leadership to the German DS team, including the BD Kiestra Sales team, and is responsible for identifying growth opportunities and implementation plans to realize the opportunities.
1. Business & Marketing Strategy:
You will be responsible for the creation, the communication and engagement of your future team in the vision and strategy for DS Germany. Furthermore, you will capture and evaluate market trends and needs, recommend and drive the implementation of respective commercial priorities and solutions, lead the development and implementation of sales- and (in cooperation with the Marketing manager) marketing planning and contribute to regional market development activities. You’ll ensure that challenging business targets will be met and develop an organization that will embrace change, new initiatives and will be ready for future challenges.
2. Strategy Execution / Commercial Implementation:
You'll ensure the development of challenging but achievable operating plans and budgets for DS in Germany and further on be accountable for the overall DS Germany performance to budget, constantly providing effective business and financial reporting to the Business Director CE. You will lead the implementation of marketing and sales plans, new product launch plans and pricing, always working in close collaboration with the Central Europe business team to ensure effective leverage of resources and capabilities. Furthermore, you will drive the patient safety initiative in close collaboration with the market access team.
3. Customer relationship:
You will develop and maintain contacts with professionals as well as with key opinion leaders and decision makers in the purchasing groups and develop appropriate understanding of local customers’ needs through ongoing interaction with key accounts. Further, you will be personally involved in the lab automation projects especially for C-suite access.
4. Team and People Leadership:
You embody and live the BD values! Your focus lies on attracting, retaining, motivating & developing talent and you will provide constant leadership and coaching to the DS country organization to deliver results, improve skills and manage ongoing change. Together with the Business Director CE, you will develop and implement an organizational plan that defines the capabilities necessary to support the business in the medium to long-term as well as ensures that the organization remains structurally flexible, competitive and capable of adapting to change. You will build your own succession plan and furthermore develop them for critical roles.
You have a university degree in Business or a related field as well as a minimum of 5 years’ sales, marketing and business management experience and 2 years’ experience in managing people. You demonstrate the ability to integrate an understanding of sound business and financial fundamentals with in-depth knowledge of our market and industry and have a proven track record of success in the medical devices market or preferably in the diagnostics field.
You have strong business ethics and are a fast learner, who is able to quickly achieve a thorough understanding of the business opportunities for BD and adapt business models to a fast changing market and regulatory environment. You experienced working in a multi-faceted high-paced matrix environment, project management with demonstrated strategic planning and execution, budget development and oversight, furthermore you have effective communication skills, the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects under pressure and at one time.
Further requirements are:
- Fluency in German and English
