We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Trade Compliance Officer to enhance and develop our global trade compliance program. This role is crucial to ensuring our company adheres to all international trade laws and regulations, minimizing risk, and promoting ethical and responsible business practices. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of export controls and trade sanctions.

The position will be based in one of MacGregor's offices in Helsinki, Turku, Hamburg, Gdansk, Gothenburg or Sofia. Reporting directly to the Head of Ethics & Compliance.


  • Conduct regular risk reviews to identify and address compliance vulnerabilities
  • Stay abreast of evolving trade regulations and adapt the compliance program as needed
  • Maintain and develop our automated trade sanctions screening system
  • Initiate, develop, and deliver engaging trade compliance training to employees
  • Advise and support on export control activities, such as product/technology classification and license management, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations like EAR, EU Dual-Use, EU Military List
  • Guide and advise on the establishment and maintenance of secure environments for handling controlled items, including physical security, access controls, and record-keeping
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on trade compliance, providing timely, clear, and actionable guidance and support to internal stakeholders
  • If needed liaise effectively with government agencies and external advisors on trade compliance matters

The ideal candidate for this role has strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality. We are looking for a person who has excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work independently as a self-starter and as part of a team.

Ideally you have

  • University degree in law, engineering, international business, or a related field
  • Preferably minimum of 3 years of experience, or otherwise demonstrated sufficient experience in a trade compliance role
  • Solid knowledge of international trade laws and regulations, including US and EU export controls and sanctions, and preferably customs regulations
  • Experience with best practices for handling controlled items is a plus
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
