ISF is seeking a

Science Laboratory Technician (m/f/d), part-time


  • To assist teaching staff and facilitate student learning through the efficient and effective organization/maintenance of materials and equipment
  • To assist in the science areas as required, and, where appropriate, to use ICT
  • To contribute to the development of an ethos of learning throughout the school

Essential tasks will include:

  • Ensuring science laboratories and prep rooms are maintained in compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Performing safety checks as detailed in relevant check-lists
  • Conducting health and safety policy checks in prep rooms, laboratories, and workshops
  • Preparing, maintaining, and safely storing apparatuses for demonstration and practical work in the sciences courses taken in the school
  • Performing general maintenance of each laboratory or room, including the care and maintenance of services, stores, laboratory workshop equipment, draining systems, working surfaces, etc., particularly during the summer holiday period
  • Reporting any repairs required to the appropriate person for action
  • Maintaining a standard of good cleanliness and tidiness throughout the laboratories and prep rooms (e.g., work benches, white boards, glassware, sinks, etc.)
  • Maintaining accurate stock inventory to meet needs and requirements
  • Maintaining stock as per requirements, breakage records, and other such records as are required
  • Reporting the need for and guide requisition of materials including toxic chemicals and radioactive materials
  • Receiving and storing new materials including materials needing special care.
  • Ensuring the return of empty bottles and containers
  • Constructing apparatuses for general use and the repair of apparatuses
  • Taking any and all necessary steps to reduce laboratory risks in accordance with the school's procedures.

Candidates for this position will need:

  • Vocational qualifications and/or experience in line with position
  • Knowledge of English and German
  • First Aid certification
  • Minimum of two references from past direct line managers
  • Experience in working in a school/educational setting (preferred)
