Mizuho Bank Europe N.V. (“MBE”) is a fully licensed bank incorporated in the Netherlands and supervised by De Nederlandsche Bank (“DNB”) and the Autoriteit Financiële Markten (“AFM”). MBE was established in 1974 and has always been located in Amsterdam. We employ around 150+ FTE and have three foreign branches (Frankfurt, Madrid, and Paris).


The Department

The department strives to adopt HR best practice to support the business and does so by translating company strategy into specific HR requirements, solutions and projects. The Frankfurt HR team works closely with the HR department in Amsterdam and London.

As an HR Business Partner at Mizuho, you are entrusted with the responsibility of advising and steering Line Managers in your respective business lines. This comprehensive role includes daily HR tasks, HR reporting, coaching managers in their leadership style, resource planning, and fostering effective communication.

Your role will have you directly supporting six to eight Line Managers. Regular discussions with these key individuals will be part of your mandate, ensuring operations run smoothly. Integral to your role is the identification of potential HR-related risks and the formulation of appropriate action plans, thereby providing robust support to Line Managers in various scenarios. Furthermore, you will play a significant part in HR projects, supporting the HR Leadership and managing the HR calendar and activities included.

Supported by an HR Specialist, you will also be accountable for the smooth management and execution of HR operations. These include hiring, prepare documents for the onboarding, employee transitions, training, and reporting. While the recruitment process is primarily handled by external recruiters, your responsibility lies in coordinating the hiring process and ensuring overall efficient execution.

You will become part of the global HR team in Amsterdam, which comprises the CHRO, the HR Operations Director, the HRBP Director, two HRBP's and two HR Specialists. We also have a local HR Team in Paris which comprises an HR Manager and an HR Business Partner.

This supportive and collaborative team operates within the same department, maintaining a close-knit approach to ensure the well-being and productivity of all staff members.

Job summary

The HRBP provides operational support to the Senior HRBP providing robust support to line managers in various scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general HR support for the line managers as main contact person for HR in Frankfurt
  • Advise and lecture line managers on the implementation of HR policies and guidelines
  • First line ad-hoc advice towards staff and line managers
  • Support on the various audits impacting the HR department
  • Provide input on the HR risk radar and responsible for keeping the document updated
  • Give input on improvement of employee wellbeing & sick leave
  • Validation of vendor selection & contract management
  • Participate the periodical meetings with AMS and LDN HR teams to ensure consistency within MBE
  • Conduct exit interviews with regards to the offboarding process
  • Play an active role and contribute new ideas and suggestions for the continuous improvement across the HR department
  • Advise stakeholders on L&D related tasks
  • Coordinate and advise the line managers on the annual appraisal process
  • Support the Sr. HRBP in managing employee cases (legal disputes, long term sick leave, performance management, exit, etc.)
  • Ensure business lines remain in compliance with budget requests and CESCOE requests (after validated by Sr. HRBP)
  • Managing leave process, monitor compliance of self-service around holiday/special leave and advise on special leaves such as parental leave, unpaid leave, etc.
  • Manage (outsourced) recruitment activities for your business lines (ensure on-offboarding is adequately executed by HR OPS)

  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant HR work experience
  • Experienced in working for corporate environments (preferably financials)
  • Advising line managers
