At our Global Research & Development and Innovation department, we're not just improving cement and concrete - we're rethinking them. Our mission: to pioneer technologies that significantly reduce the CO₂ footprint of building materials and lead the industry toward true carbon neutrality.
To strengthen our Cement & Binder Technology team, we're looking for a Research Scientist Cement & Binder Technology (f/m/d). This position is based in Leimen (near Heidelberg), Germany, and reports to the position Team Leader Cement & Binder Technology.
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE
- Shape the future of building materials by leading applied R&D projects focused on developing next-generation binder systems
- Collaborate across borders with universities, research institutes and industry partners to turn ideas into impact
- Develop the core: create technologies and test methods that that enable product innovation and performance optimization
- Spot what's next: identify trends in material science and turn them into actionable R&D proposals
- Test the limits: conduct feasibility studies to explore technical and market potential of new binder concepts
- Share what you know: contribute to internal knowledge management and train colleagues in cement chemistry and mineralogy
- Protect innovation: support the creation and protection of intellectual property through patent development and documentation
- Grow others: mentor junior team members and help shape the next generation of experts in sustainable construction materials
YOUR PROFILE
- A Master's degree (or higher) in applied mineralogy, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field forms your academic foundation
- You bring at least 3 years of experience in R&D or production of building materials; international experience is a plus
- Construction materials, research methods, and innovation processes are part of your professional toolkit
- Strong organizational skills and a structured way of working help you manage projects and technical documentation with ease
- You're confident using modern digital tools and standard IT systems
- Fluent in both German and English, you're also open to international travel when needed
