This is an exciting opportunity to join Avantor as the European Tax Manager (m/w/d) in Germany and be at the forefront of our new function!

This brand-new position offers a unique opportunity to shape the processes and be a member of the team, driving Avantor's tax operations across Europe and in Germany. Reporting to the Sr. Director, International Tax, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, while strategically planning and overseeing our European activities.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in taxation, economics, finance, law, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in corporate income tax.
  • Preferably experienced in a multinational group.
  • German Certified Tax Advisor qualification (Steuerberater) is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of German tax laws and compliance.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and structured approach.
  • Collaborative, solution-driven, and proactive.
  • Open and adaptable, thriving in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English.


How you will thrive and create an impact:

  • Manage Corporate Income Tax (CIT) and Secondary Tax filings.
  • Oversee tax compliance processes and collaborate with external advisors.
  • Supervise annual CIT in partnership with external advisors, ensuring robust tax planning and compliance.
  • Liaise with Statutory Auditors and manage compliance costs.
  • Communicate with Tax Authorities and handle tax audits, appeals, and dispute resolutions.
  • Research and draft tax advice, monitor changes in tax law, and provide recommendations.
  • Participate in financial due diligence for acquisitions and integrate tax processes.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Tax teams to drive consistency and identify areas for improvement.
