Minimax Viking Products Group GmbH, an international company with over 700 employees and operations in more than 15 countries, is seeking a dynamic Product Solutions Owner, Water, to join the Water Product Division. The Product Solutions Owner (PSO) leads the strategic development of innovative product solutions that create value for our organization and customers whilst providing high-level technical customer support. This role combines deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of market trends and customer needs to shape the technology direction of the product portfolio and ensure alignment with business objectives.
This role is focused on water-based suppression products and systems.
1. Market-conscious product development
- Collaborate with Product Managers (PM) and other relevant stakeholders to understand their needs, objectives, and requirements
- Guide and inform the development teams in the design of products that meet the organisation's technical and business requirements
- In conjunction with the PM, define product and system specifications that meet not only technical needs but also commercial considerations
- Appraise products from third-party vendors that may meet the product portfolio needs
2. Technical leadership
- Assess new technologies and competing products and inform development teams
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the entire project lifecycle
- Take the technical lead during fire testing programs
- Mentor developers and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team
- Advocate for best practices and continuous improvement in development processes and product quality
- Oversee the exploitation of intellectual protection opportunities and, conversely, of the associated design constraints to avoid infringements
- Guide the approvals team through the approval process and technical challenges therein
- Support rollout of beta products and provide feedback / input during new developments
- Communicate and manage product updates to the field
3. Performance optimization and maintenance:
- Identify opportunities for performance optimization in existing products and systems
- Conduct regular maintenance and monitoring activities to ensure the ongoing reliability and efficiency of existing products
4. Documentation and reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of product and system designs, configurations, and procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer and troubleshooting
- Support the technical writing team in preparing the product's technical instructions
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management to communicate project status, key metrics, and future initiatives
5. Technical Support:
- Communicate with internal customers via phone, email, or chat to resolve technical issues. In special situations, this may extend to external customers or end users
- Track and document queries in a ticketing system
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve more complex issues
- Test and troubleshoot products to identify issues
- Identify recurring issues in the field and provide feedback to verification and validation test teams enabling test case improvements
- Provide input to the product manuals
- Proven experience in the water-based fire suppression industry, with at least 5 years of experience
- Solid understanding of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations, including EN, VdS, NFPA, UL, and FM Global requirements
- Excellent negotiation, attention to detail, and a passion for creating products that deliver exceptional value and user experience
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and foster a collaborative environment
- Experience providing technical support or customer service
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including excellent written and spoken English; German is a plus
Ideally, you are based in the Hamburg area, but the entire EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, North Africa) will be considered with the possibility to work from one of our offices or from home. You will report to the Water Product Director. This position requires occasional travel (up to 50%) to meet with customers, attend industry events, and collaborate with remote teams.
