We are looking for a passionate and skilled Development Engineer (Mechanical Designer) to drive innovation and technical development of hammer drill bits (SDSplus and SDSmax systems). You will play a key role in Hilti's global development organization, with full technical responsibility throughout the entire product development process — from concept to implementation, testing and final launch in the market.
This is more than just a technical role — it's a chance to actively shape one of Hilti's most important product categories with high market relevance and strategic significance. Hammer drill bits are a core product and a major revenue driver.

- Full technical ownership for hammer drill bit development (SDSplus / SDSmax)
- Creation and implementation of technical solutions with high functional and cost efficiency
- Systematic product design, documentation, and validation of concepts
- Involvement in the Technology and Time-to-Market (TTM) processes as a key technical expert
- Coordination with internal partners from manufacturing, testing, marketing, and quality assurance
- Support and conduct lab and field tests — both in controlled environments and on real job sites
- Active contribution to cross-functional innovation teams and continuous improvement of product performance
- Representing your area of expertise confidently within Hilti and with external partners

What you need is:
- University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Technology or similar
- At least 5 years of experience in product design & development or technical project roles
- Deep understanding of systematic product development and validation processes
- A strong hands-on mentality combined with analytical and conceptual skills
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration (e.g., with production, testing, quality)
- Strong communication and project management skills
