We are looking for a Powder Diffraction Application Scientist to join us at the earliest possible date.
The Role
Momentum Transfer seeks an experienced scientist passionate about materials characterization and scientific collaboration. As a Powder Diffraction Application Scientist, you'll leverage your expertise in X-ray diffraction to guide our customers toward successful research outcomes. Collaborate closely with our software and R&D teams to develop innovative tools and methodologies, ensuring Momentum Transfer remains at the forefront of materials science. - Provide advanced technical guidance to users on measurement selection, data interpretation, and experimental strategies typically via email/calls/online meetings with occasional travel to conferences.
- Evaluate measurement requests for feasibility, safety, and compatibility.
- Serve as a technical liaison between users and our software development team, help users troubleshoot issues, and help with feature testing.
- Help develop data processing protocols
- Perform analysis tasks and help users to optimize measurement approaches for diverse materials.
- Develop clear, engaging technical documentation and educational resources, and conduct internal training sessions.
- PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- Profound experience in topics including X-ray powder diffraction, total scattering pair distribution function analysis, small-angle scattering, structural modeling and characterization methods.
- Practical knowledge of Rietveld / WPPM / SAXS / PDF or related refinement techniques.
- Interest or experience in synchrotron science and diverse materials systems.
- Other technical skills are a plus: coding in python, interest in machine learning, etc.
- Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written (additional languages a plus).
- Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to scientific collaboration and customer success.
- Solid understanding of laboratory safety and materials handling practices.
