To ensure our cell development, we are looking for process engineers with a wide range of experience in the development of pastes for the production of battery electrodes. You support our electrochemists in the prototypical implementation of our cell patterns and optimize pastes and mixing processes.

We are looking for a Battery Cell Process Engineer (f/m/x) focusing on slurry mixing and electrode manufacturing for the design of commercial vehicle-specific battery cells.

Your tasks in detail:

  • The development of optimized electrode formulations (anode/cathode) for high-energy Li-ion batteries
  • Bring basic slurry formulations to maturity for scale-up on larger production lines
  • Define specifications for new processes and equipment for factory expansion
  • Commission new equipment, conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and lead process development through systematic design of experiments (DoE)
  • Develop robust characterization methodologies from slurry to electrode production
  • Innovate and bring new ideas from concept to production level
  • Conduct thorough failure analysis to identify root causes and optimize parameters for enhanced performance
  • To develop a failure catalogue regarding electrode defects

What do you bring with you?

  • Degree with a focus on chemical engineering, materials science, process engineering or similar studies
  • Previous experience in mixing, coating, and calendaring processes in the battery industry
  • In-depth knowledge of Li-ion battery design and operating principle
  • Experience in material handling, lab organization and material analyzation techniques
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to make occasional domestic/international business trips
  • Confident in English, both written and spoken German is plus
