Canada's official representation in Germany includes the Embassy of Canada in Berlin, as well as the Consulates in Düsseldorf and Munich. The role of the three offices and their more than 100 Canada-based and locally engaged staff is to develop the relationship between Canada and Germany across a number of areas. As well, Canadian offices provide consular and other services and host events and conferences.

As the Government of Canada's largest federal research and development organization, the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) with its 12 labs, Industrial Research Assistance Program, and collaboration programs, enhances people's lives and addresses some of the world's pressing challenges. The NRC engages in multiple forms of collaboration, spanning a very broad spectrum of activities and industries. The National Research Council of Canada in Germany, located in the Munich consulate, is a point of entry for co-innovation.

Commercial Assistant (m/f/d), National Research Council


In the context of advancing NRC's network and collaboration with German innovators, the incumbent reporting to the NRC Senior Advisor for Germany in Munich is responsible for scheduling, administrative and research services to support the NRC Senior Advisor. Other responsibilities include managing calendar appointments across time zones, scheduling meetings and workshops, preparing email and business communications, and handling day to day administrative tasks including travel bookings and claims. The incumbent is also responsible for coordinating financial bookings according to organizational guidelines and coordinating venue selection/booking for departmental and client events.


Essential qualifications include an advanced level of English and German at approximately C1 level. The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree or a vocational training certificate or a combination of education, training and experience including a minimum of three (3) years' experience working with clients in an administrative environment.

In addition, the ideal candidate has at least two (2) years of full-time experience in handling customer service enquiries and/or providing internal or external client service plus at least two (2) years of full-time experience in working in an administrative capacity.


The position is full-time (37.5 hours per week) and term (24 months). The starting annual salary for a full-time position is 46,256 Euros gross per annum. As per current terms and conditions that are periodically reviewed, additional benefits include a yearly bonus of one additional 13th month's salary, one additional 14th half month's salary bonus, 30 days of annual leave and a performance based annual salary increase.

The position is office- based, however, after the successful completion of the probation period, the position may include a maximum of two day per week of home - based work.
