Nanofilm has signed an agreement with Dr Bernd Schey and Dr Claus Hammerl for the acquisition of AxynTeC Dünnschichttechnik GmbH, as part of our Europe growth strategy.

The strategic acquisition was signed on 21 December 2023 and is subject to customary closing conditions.

AxynTeC is a professional thin-film coating solutions provider based in Augsburg, Germany and has a strong track record in Southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With its innovative process technology plasmaIMPAX, AxynTeC has successfully mastered the art of DLC coatings, providing solutions for customers in the industrial, decorative and medical industries. On top of coating services, AxynTeC also has strong expertise in pulsed laser deposition, and provides services such as contract manufacturing, engineering development and supply of coating equipment.

By integrating AxynTeC into our Advanced Materials Business Unit (AMBU), it expands Nanofilm's solutions portfolio with DLC expertise, and providing a platform in Europe to offer our unique solutions to the customers in that region and accelerate our growth.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced European Finance & HR Manager to join our dynamic team at Nanofilm. Nanofilm is a leading provider of nanotechnology solutions, leveraging its proprietary technologies, core competencies in R&D, engineering and production, to provide technology-based solutions, through its operations across Asia and Europe, across a wide range of industries. Nanofilm's solutions serve as key catalysts enabling customers to achieve high value-add advancements in their end-products in an environmentally sustainable manner. This role is pivotal in ensuring the alignment of financial systems and processes with our Corporate Headquarters, taking ownership in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, financial reporting and human resources of our European business.

  • Financial Systems and Process Alignment: Ensure that all financial systems and processes in our European operations are fully aligned with those of the Corporate Headquarters.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A): Lead the FP&A activities, including variance analysis, forecasting, and strategic financial planning of the BUs in Europe.
  • Budgeting and Budget Control: Oversee the budgeting process, implement budget controls, and report on variances to ensure financial discipline and cost management.
  • Financial Accounting and Reporting: Manage all aspects of financial accounting and reporting, including R&D reporting, in compliance with IFRS and corporate policies. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Costing analysis and allocation: Provide costing analysis and allocation, enhancing financial visibility and decision-making.
  • Management Reporting: Develop and present insightful management reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Tax and Local Regulations Compliance: Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and filings, leveraging expertise in local tax laws and international tax principles.
  • Liaison with External Parties: Act as the primary contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies in Europe.
  • Team resources: Engage and draw the required resources from the Group Finance to perform this role.
  • Human Resources: Perform the full spectrum of HR functions, not limited to payroll and insurance and ensure local compliance with employment laws, regulations, and other statutory HR requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is favourable.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in similar roles, with at least 2 years in a position that is able to work independently.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and FP&A.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, while having basic knowledge in local European accounting standards and tax regulations being highly advantageous.
  • Experience with financial systems implementation and process improvement.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and experience in engaging cross-cultural teams.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external parties.
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in another European language, such as German, being highly advantageous.
