kta naval systems AS is a joint venture between the Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace AS, thyssenkrupp Marine Systems GmbH and ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH groups and was founded in 2017. We are the exclusive supplier and design house of combat systems for all future submarines of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems GmbH, the market leader for conventional submarines in NATO and with partner navies.

We are looking for

(Senior) Commercial Project Manager (m/f/d)

in order to be an important member of the core management team for one of our large scale combat system projects with Norwegian and European end-customer.


  • Commercial responsibility to the success of the project (cost, quality, time).
  • Pro-active handling of our main project-partner, such as supplier and customer/shipyard. interface to procurement, finance and legal support.
  • Deputy to the Project Manager.
  • Self-employed handling of contract changes with all project-partners, following (and if necessary amend) payment plans and claims, handling bank / parent company guarantees and process accurately invoices.
  • Evaluate NDAs and further legal terms and conditions and prepare / execute negotiations in the frame of the project.
  • Actively manage and mitigate commercial project risk.
  • Regularly internal and external reporting according to project handbook and company regulations.
  • Optional - support in campaigns to win new projects and to set up a new project.

  • Long-term experience in complex projects with proven success, particularly in leading international teams and working with international customer (preferable in governmental / military environment).
  • Very pronounced proactive, holistic thinking and cooperative personality with strong financial and negotiation skills even in demanding situations.
  • Master's degree in finance, economics or law
  • Project management certificate IPMA or comparable preferred (can be done in parallel to the job if not applicable before starting)
  • Strong intercultural competence and empathy.
  • Travel amount app. 20-30 % expected
  • Language skills:
    • Fluent in written and spoken English is a must
    • Second international language would be a plus
    • German would be a plus
    • Norwegian would be a plus.
  • Obligation to be eligible for a Norwegian or German security clearance.
  • Military background would be a plus.
