JOB ID: EMEA04464

Position Description

Background

QIAGEN has committed to reducing carbon emissions in line with a 1.5 degree Celsius climate target. We track our energy, emissions, water, waste, and transportation and launched multiple cross-functional initiatives that reduce our impact on the environment. We are looking for an experienced Program Manager, defining and implementing our long-term scope 3 emission reduction roadmap against the criteria of our climate commitment towards the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi).

The Opportunity

Scope 3 emissions are the most challenging emissions for a corporate enterprise, as they involve the management of a large and heterogenous group of 3rd parties across the whole value chain and product life cycle. Consequent and professional program management across different departments to monitor, implement and execute the various initiatives in order to achieve our ambitious emission- and plastic reduction targets are required.

QIAGEN as an innovative leader in Biotechnology has already worked since years on plastic reduction activities and has built together with our strong partners in the plastic industry many experiences how to reduce our scope 3 emissions specific to our industry. Various initiatives and related projects have been identified or launched by different departments and together with our partners, like our suppliers. Now we want to achieve the next level in our emission reduction roadmap and get more competitive in aligning our interdisciplinary projects with each other and in integrating them into our overarching strategy. For this purpose new projects and technologies need to be identified, requiring networking with several stakeholders, like for example industry associations, start-ups, regulators and companies being specialized in the manufacturing of high quality plastics materials. Status reports including the contribution to the overall emission target, timelines, next milestones, resource requirements, potential issues and corrective actions are required. An active, hands-on management of the program and related projects is key for success.

Tasks

- Professional program management for all initiatives related to our emission target

- Continuous monitoring and reporting of program/projects status and progress

- Lead and manage the cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams

- Successful execution of the emission reduction roadmap

- Establish internal and external networks and identify new topics for cooperation

- Challenge and improve our emission reduction strategy

- Providing relevant contributions to internal and external communication to strengthen sustainability in the corporate culture and make our activities visible

- Close cooperation with business unit managers, global product managers, R&D and relevant global operations departments, define priorities of sustainability projects, allocate needed project resources and budgets

Position Requirements

- Strong expertise in management of interdisciplinary programs/projects

- Solid ESG background and knowledge

- Ability to build, lead and motivate cross-functional teams
