Head of Investment Germany (m/f/d)
Location: Berlin
Our client is a leading European residential real estate investor and manager with an impressive portfolio volume of approximately EUR 30 billion across nine countries. Their long-term approach encompasses all aspects, from acquisition to development and management of properties.
Due to positive business development and to strengthen the European investment team, we are currently seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial-minded candidate for the position of Head of Investment Germany (m/f/d), based in Berlin, on an exclusive basis.
As part of the investment team, this role plays a key part in developing and implementing country-specific investment strategies. Within a team of around 40 investment management professionals across various countries, this position is part of a dynamic and dedicated community committed to achieving excellence in real estate investment.
- Lead and develop the German investment team and collaborate with other investment teams in Europe.
- Assume and take responsibility for the leadership role and transformation of the corporate culture, based on trust, fairness, and direct and informal communication.
- Independently acquire, structure, and execute purchases and sales of residential properties.
- Conduct financial analysis and risk assessment of potential real estate investments.
- Execute deals, including overseeing commercial, tax, legal, and technical due diligence, and preparing investment applications for the Investment Committee and relevant boards.
- Monitor the performance of the investment portfolio, identifying optimization and growth opportunities.
- Annually update the investment strategy for Germany by adopting a portfolio management approach in close collaboration with operations and the CIO team.
- Lead negotiations in real estate transactions and projects.
- Prepare profitability calculations, presentations, and investment documents.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages professional development and excellence.
- Ensure internal alignment and proactively approach stakeholders in Asset Management and Operations.
- Completed (specialized) university degree with a focus on economics and/or real estate economics (business administration, economics, real estate management etc.).
- Several years of professional experience in relevant leadership positions in the real estate industry, as well as solid experience in the acquisition and sale of real estate projects and portfolios, preferably in the residential sector.
- Passion for real estate and real estate transactions.
- Negotiation skills and communication strength.
- Legal and tax knowledge related to structuring and executing real estate transactions as asset and share deals.
- Experience in asset and/or portfolio management of residential real estate is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and a profound understanding of numbers (financial modeling).
- Negotiation proficiency in both German and English, both written and spoken, is required.
