About Bars and Rods
ArcelorMittal Europe has a long and rich tradition of producing bars and wire rod in its locations in Germany, France, Spain, Poland and Bosnia Herzegovina. In recent years, our European plants have made major investments in state-of-the-art equipment. Bars and rods find applications in every major market segment – construction, infrastructure, automotive, mechanical engineering, yellow goods and energy.

Our local sales team in Duisburg is looking for a successor as a Sales Manager who leaves into retirement. The German agency is responsible for the German speaking markets (DE/AT/CH/NL) and is the biggest agency within the Bars & Rods network across Europe. We have a motivated and experienced sales team in Duisburg with a very good team atmosphere.

The ArcelorMittal Long Products – Bars & Rods division, is looking for a

Sales Manager (m/f/d )

to strengthen current and develop new business in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Netherlands.

The position is based in Duisburg, Germany.
As Sales Manager, your main responsibilities & missions will be:
  • Managing the existing customer portfolio: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, ensuring their needs are met and maximizing customer satisfaction
  • Seeking for development opportunities for new business
  • Negotiating prices in spot and long-term contracts with our customers
  • Improving supply share and developing high added value products
  • Supporting production mills on product development and customer service
  • Connecting with the relevant internal stakeholders of the mills and the sales network
  • Developing a good understanding of bars and rods market in Germany and across
  • Monitoring sales report and analyzing actual and potential performance

  • University degree in business administration, economics, engineering or related area
  • Experience in the steel industry or a related industry, operating in industrial market
  • Fluent in English and German; French is an added benefit
  • Ability to travel regularly to visit customers and our production mills
  • Excellent capability for making initial contact and ongoing communication with customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work together as a strong team member
  • Good networking skills
  • Ability to analyse sales and figures with given IT tools (BI / CRM / Office)
  • Independent, proactive and results driven personality with entrepreneurial thinking
  • Interest on economic news, industry and market trends
  • Possess a valid driver's license for business travel purposes
