  • as an expert in patent law matters, you will be responsible for the business area of a ZEISS division and advise colleagues on business decisions in the field of intellectual property. In doing so, you will take on the following tasks
  • managing the related grant procedures before the IP offices in close cooperation with the patent attorneys involved in Germany and abroad, and in some cases conducting them yourself

  • evaluating third party rights and defending against them by conducting and managing opposition procedures before the EPO and the DPMA

  • advising the supervised development divisions on third party property rights and working towards their appropriate consideration

  • enforcing own IP rights against third parties using the legal actions available for this purpose at home and abroad

  • drawing up contracts in the field of intellectual property rights and conducting contract negotiations


We offer you flexible working hours with the possibility of mobile working. Coporate Language could be german or english.


  • successfully completed technical or scientific studies (knowledge in the field of optics is an advantage)

  • admission as European Patent Attorney (or about to obtain it)

  • first relevant professional experience in connection with technical intellectual property rights

  • ideally, knowledge and experience of the particularities of foreign patent systems, in particular those of the USA and PR China

  • a working method characterized by precision and a high degree of abstraction, a sense of responsibility and excellent communication skills

  • the ability to present complex technical and legal issues in an understandable and convincing manner in German and English

  • a very good knowledge of German and English at language level C (European Framework of Reference) is required for your daily work
