Jacobs have been awarded the contract to programme manage the planning, design and construction of the largest underground power cable in the world.

Germany has a target to generate 80% of its power from renewable sources by 2050 and to turn off all nuclear reactors by 2022. To do this they need to significantly upgrade their power grid. At 700km, Suedlink will be the longest underground power cable in the world, and the biggest link in Germany’s power grid upgrade programme. Suedlink consists of two High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission lines, which will transport wind power from the north to the south, and solar power from the south to the north.

To support the Project Team we are currently looking for a Senior Graphics and Document Specialist who will be responsible for:
    •    Proof-reading, formatting and editing of texts and graphics to produce high quality technical and non-technical documents
    •    Ensuring use of correct grammar and spelling
    •    Supporting development and agreement of document and report templates
    •    Conversion of documents into correct templates and adherence to style guides

    •    Support of document production

    •    Engaging working with with and coordinating graphics and document administration staff in the regional offices

    •    Management and development of junior graphics and document administration staff located in regional offices

    •    Developing and following best practice with the creative team 

    •    Working closely with technical disciplines, programme management and programme control teams

    •    Working closely with publishing and graphics agencies contracted by the clients to produce high quality external information and publication materials and documents 

    •    Experience in technical writing, graphics and illustration
    •    Substantial experience in German grammar and spelling
    •    Excellent written and oral communication skills

    •    Experience in coordination and management of teams

    •    Knowledge and substantial experience in the use of computer software products including graphic design and database applications such as Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator.

    •    Must have experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with SharePoint beneficial

    •    Quick learner and have the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

    •    Good time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines

    •    Ability and flexibility to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team

    •    Degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent training and experience

    •    At least 6 years’ experience in editing and managing the graphics and document process

    •    At least 3 years’ team coordination and management experience 

    •    People management skills

    •    Good ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and within a network organisation

    •    Cares about quality of products

    •    Solution-oriented, precise with attention to detail 

    •    Excellent communication skills with clients, peers and subcontractors
