The Finisar Germany GmbH, a Coherent subsidiary serves multiple businesses within Coherent. One focus area is the development of leading-edge high performance, high capacity optical front-end solutions for long reach optical transmission. Another focus area is high speed detectors, scaling up to frequencies of up to 100GHz, utilized in research and test & measurement but more and more in communication applications too.

  • Lead R&D projects for optical sub-assemblies, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure alignment with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Management.
  • Define technical requirements and guide optical, opto-mechanical, and photonic design activities.
  • Ensure robust, manufacturable solutions in line with DfM, DfT, and quality standards.
  • Support prototype builds, validation, and transition to manufacturing (NPI).

  • Master's degree in Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in optical or optoelectronic component development and technical project leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of optics, photonics, optical packaging, or precision assembly.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and structured project methodologies.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills; ability to operate in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred: experience in international teams, familiarity with ISO/quality standards, and project management certification.
