Job Description

We are looking for a Finance Data Engineer/Data Scientist to manage financial reporting, planning, and data operations in the WIRTGEN GROUP. The role requires strong expertise in Power BI Backend, Excel, and SAP BW. In the long term, you should be willing to develop your skills in modern Data Warehouse platforms like Databricks or Snowflake, if you have not already achieved this. The WIRTGEN GROUP will strongly support you in this. You will collaborate across teams to maintain reporting tools, support planning cycles, and drive automation and data quality improvements. This position blends financial process knowledge with data engineering skills to deliver scalable, data-driven solutions.

Data Engineer/Data Scientist in Finance (m/f/d)


Finance Data Operations & Reporting

  • Maintain and manage FI data operations, ensuring accuracy and consistency across systems
  • Support annual planning templates and collaborate with business units using SAP BW and MS Power BI tools for planning cycles
  • Coordinate consultants and internal teams for monthly, quarterly and annual closing and planning activities
  • Design & optimize financial processes, consolidation and planning cycles for financial reporting

SAP BW Development

  • Design, enhance, and support BW queries
  • Manage SAP BW-IP for integrated planning and group-level reporting

End-to-End Data Pipeline Development

  • Build and maintain ETL pipelines from source systems to Power BI
  • Automate finance data processing and workflows
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and predictive models to support financial decision-making
  • Building implementation strength in cloud platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks to deliver high-quality data products and implement standard FI data concepts
  • Apply statistical methods & ML Models for trend and correlation analysis
  • Support digitalization initiatives including app development (UI/UX) & automation

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business informatics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or Data Science-related field
  • Experience: 3+ years in financial reporting/planning or data engineering in a finance context
  • Technical Skills:
    • Solid understanding of financial closing and planning processes
    • Proficiency in Excel (VBA), Power BI, SAP BW & HANA
    • Knowledge of Databricks or Snowflake is a strong advantage or willingness to develop
    • Knowledge in SAP Analysis for Office and coding skills in Python (or similar languages) are a plus
