Please note: The role is open to be based in the German main office Düsseldorf as well as our regional offices in Lingen and Berlin.
The Project Engineer plays a critical role in the development, construction, and optimisation of wind energy projects across Germany. This position acts as the primary technical point of contact, addressing commercial, regulatory, and design-related challenges to ensure the successful delivery of wind projects from early-stage development through to execution. The main aim is to support Germany's renewables portfolio, with flexibility for projects elsewhere if required. The role is open to be based in the German Headquarter Düsseldorf as well as our regional offices in Lingen and Berlin.
- Lead the engineering phase of wind projects, overseeing technical assessments related to civil design, planning, cost estimation, procurement, environmental permitting, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and internal approvals. Evaluate wind farm feasibility, constructability, risk assessment, and CAPEX estimates from early development until start of operation of wind farm
- Technical lead with regards to the turbine selection, EYA, layout design, transport, route, installation and tests on completion discussions.
- Serve as the technical lead for the Wind Turbines and Balance of Plant (BOP) scope during the procurement phase. This includes defining specifications and requirements, evaluating technical proposals, and supporting contract negotiations.
- Prepare and Quality assure technical specifications in wind turbine tenders.
- Prepare and ensure the quality of technical documentation for BOP tenders; ensure alignment between turbine supplier infrastructure requirements and BOP contracts.
- Manage interfaces between civil and electrical BOP, as well as turbine interfaces.
- Support technical due diligence processes.
- Engage with turbine suppliers to maintain up-to-date knowledge of market offerings and technical advancements.
- Supervise third-party engineers and external design services as required.
- Plan, lead, and document project design reviews, ensuring technical consistency with economic, scheduling, and regulatory objectives.
- Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar with documented extensive experience in the field.
- Proven (minimun 5 years) relevant work experience in wind energy project development, with strong knowledge of wind turbine suppliers and technologies.
- Strong understanding of the development process for wind projects, including constraints analysis, civil engineering, grid connection processes and permitting process in Germany.
- Willingness and ability to conduct regular site visits.
- High attention to detail and ability to deliver quality results under tight deadlines.
- Commercially astute with a strong understanding of project economics and value drivers.
- Demonstrated passion and drive to complete projects safely, on time, and within budget.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluent in German and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
