Job Description

Why Oviva?

At Oviva, we're on a mission to make sustainable, personalized, clinically effective care accessible to everyone.

Our digital programmes support people living with weight related illnesses. While weight loss is a goal for many, our approach is about so much more: improving health, building confidence, and enhancing quality of life.

We've already supported over one million people across the UK, Switzerland, Germany, and Poland – and we're just getting started. Every conversation, coaching session, and line of code brings us closer to a healthier future. Join us, and be part of the team making that future possible.

To further scale our growing impact, we are looking for a Behavioural Science Lead – AI, based in the UK, Germany, or Poland.

The Role

This is a unique opportunity to join Oviva at the intersection of behavioural science and artificial intelligence.

As our Behavioural Science Lead – AI, you will be embedded within our AI squads, contributing directly to the design, testing, and deployment of hyperpersonalised digital health interventions. Your work will empower AI-powered coaching and decision support tools that make care more effective, equitable, and scalable.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, engineers, clinical leads, product managers, and content designers to bring evidence-based behavioural models into digital practice - making a measurable impact on how users engage, change, and succeed in their health journeys.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and validate behavioural components of our AI-driven personalisation engine (e.g. tailoring for nudges, feedback and patient support messaging, decision trees, adaptive journeys).
  • Translate behavioural models (COM-B, BCW, BCT taxonomy) into scalable product features powered by data.
  • Partner with data and engineering teams to embed behavioural logic into algorithms, ensuring prompts produce effective and action-oriented messages.
  • Act as a lead in sprint cycles, ensuring interventions are evidence-informed and outcome-focused.
  • Define and lead experiments (e.g., A/B tests) to evaluate the effectiveness of behavioural interventions at scale.
  • Monitor behavioural engagement metrics (user engagement and other data) and iterate to improve outcomes and refine behavioural strategies.
  • Champion behavioural best practices within product and clinical teams.
  • Bring a clinical mindset to AI feature development, ensuring outputs are safe, equitable, and aligned with Oviva's therapeutic goals.

Job Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Behavioural Science, Health Psychology, or related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of applied experience in digital behavioural interventions.
  • Proven application of models like COM-B or BCW in product or AI contexts.
  • Ability to distil complex concepts into clear, actionable product logic.
  • Experience working with data teams and understanding experimental design.
  • Strong communication skills and professional fluency in English.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in consumer health or medtech apps.
  • Exposure to AI/ML lifecycle or adaptive digital journeys.

Job Benefits

  • A chance to transform healthcare at scale and shape next-generation solutions.
  • Dynamic, purpose-driven role within a high-growth, supportive team.
  • Training and development, including a personal learning allowance.
  • Flexibility in when and where you work, plus a home office allowance.
  • Competitive salary and pension contribution.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity & adoption leave.
  • Attractive benefit package, which will be shared on the first interview stage (site-dependent).

Our Culture & Values

At Oviva, we take culture seriously. We live by three principles:

  • We put the patient first
  • We empower our teams
  • We make it happen

We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and are passionate about creating an inclusive culture. We actively welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including underrepresented groups.
