Team Lead (m/f/x) Accounting - Record-to-Report (R2R) DSE & Corporate Accounting

The Position:

  • Lead and ensure high-quality, timely, and compliant Accounting services within the defined regional scope of the GBS ESC team, covering sub-ledger Accounting, audit-proof Closing, Reporting, Fixed Assets, Intercompany, and Corporate Accounting processes.
  • Collaborate closely with all R2R and other GBS ESC service lines to cover interfaces fully, drive continuous process improvements, and lead Accounting-related projects to optimize activities and deliverables.

  • Oversee all accounting transactions including general ledgers, sub-ledgers, cash operations, and bank accounting, ensuring compliance with Accounting and VAT regulations.
  • Manage timely and accurate posting of accruals, provisions, and fixed asset lifecycle from an accounting perspective.
  • Serve as regional advisor to GBS ESC lead, R2R service line lead, and global process owner on design, implementation, and continuous improvement of end-to-end Record-to-Report processes.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities and financial statement preparation in accordance with IFRS, local commercial and tax laws.
  • Drive sub-group closing for DSE GmbH in collaboration with Centers of Excellence (Accounting, Tax & Treasury) and manage reconciliation of open items and ledger sub-ledger alignment.
  • Direct service line operations and KPIs, ensuring high-quality customer service with established SLAs and timely issue resolution; act as second line customer contact within GBS escalation.
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration with EU business functions, Finance Directors, and business teams, sharing expertise and coordinating projects across regional and global stakeholders.
  • Act as main contact for internal and external audits, ensuring effective control environment, timely responses, and compliance with J-Sox documentation requirements.
  • Provide leadership for team development, manage resources, resolve operational challenges, and promote continuous learning on IFRS and accounting standards.
  • Lead and drive projects to optimize accounting activities and advance the development of the GBS ESC organization.

  • Extensive experience in Accounting or Finance, including Closing, General Accounting, and complex Fixed Asset Accounting, preferably in agile, data-driven environments like GBS or Shared Services.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or relevant professional experience with at least 2 years of international work experience.
  • Extensive expertise of international and cross-cultural work experience, with 2-3 years in people leadership and internal customer-facing roles.
  • Strong expertise in IFRS, HGB, local accounting standards, VAT, and experience in financial audit or advisory is a plus.
  • Proven project leadership with successful implementation track record and skills in project/process management and optimization.
  • Solid system knowledge in SAP (FI, CO, AA modules) and MS Office; financial data analytics skills and experience with additional SAP modules or reporting tools are advantages.
  • Business fluent in English and German with strong communication, intercultural collaboration, analytical, and conceptual skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in complex environments, customer centricity, and a strong Business Partner mindset; pharma industry knowledge is a plus.
