Research Assistant (Post-Doc) in the field of additive manufacturing of metals

The school of Mechanical Engineering and Safety Engineering, Chair of Materials Science and Additive Manufacturing, invites applications.
You will be employed to work independently on research topics in the field of additive manufacturing of powder-based metallic and intermetallic materials. Your work will focus either on material or process development. You will be jointly responsible for the expansion and maintenance of the laboratory equipment, take on organizational tasks, regularly take part in meetings and actively exchange ideas with partners.
Other tasks that await you are:
- documentation, publication and presentation of scientific research results
- creative development and pursuit of new research approaches through to the submission of proposals
- interdisciplinary collaboration in our international team
- participation in teaching (with 4 LVS)

You have successfully completed a master of science and a doctorate in materials science, mechanical engineering or physics, are passionate about additive manufacturing of metallic materials and would like to gain further qualifications in your postdoc phase.
If you fully meet all of the following mandatory requirements, we look forward to receiving your application:
- extensive documented hands-on experience in the field of additive manufacturing of metals (PBF, DED)
- extensive experience in material analysis and/or materials testing
- very good knowledge of the materials science of metals and a good understanding of physics
- -enthusiasm for working in research and experience in handling complex systems and equipment
- high degree of independence, self-motivation, reliability and initiative
- self-organization skills, ability to work in a team and good communication skills
- very good English and good German language skills
- very good written expression
The following are also desirable:
- experience in submitting applications to national and international funding agencies
- scientific publications beyond the topic of the doctoral thesis
This is a qualification position within the meaning of the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG), which can be filled to promote scientific or artistic qualification. The duration of the employment contract shall be appropriate to the desired academic qualification.
