Job Description
Agilent inspires and supports discoveries that improve the quality of life. We provide instruments, services, consumables, applications and expertise to laboratories in the life sciences, diagnostics and applied markets worldwide. Agilent enables its customers to gain the answers and insights they seek so they can do what they do best: improve the world around us.
To strengthen our dynamic and innovative procurement team, we are looking for a versatile and experienced individual to support our product optimization in laboratory equipment manufacturing — with a particular focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and stakeholder management in cooperation with R&D, procurement, and suppliers.
After comprehensive onboarding, you will become part of our team and take on a central role in cross-functional collaboration. You will be responsible for the value analysis of our electronic assemblies as well as the development and evaluation of technical alternatives. Applications range from sensor technology and microprocessor systems to high-precision drives, robotics, thermal control, and various detection systems.
As a Value Engineer, you will take project responsibility for complex (electronic) assemblies and manage them from a business perspective — from identifying potential cost savings through systematic analysis and evaluation to developing alternative solutions with improved cost-benefit ratios. You will analyze electronic board designs of higher-level assemblies, assess components in terms of technology and sourcing, and independently contribute to make-or-buy decisions and supplier selection.
With your experience, you evaluate the long-term availability of components and identify suitable state-of-the-art alternatives for legacy systems. You act as a key interface between various departments and stakeholders — from development and production to quality assurance, strategic procurement, and management. You are skilled at aligning diverse interests and developing sustainable solutions collaboratively.
You will lead projects through verification testing and recertification, address technical issues, and ensure efficient workflows. Process mapping and documentation in the PLM system, as well as process improvement, are also part of your responsibilities.
- A degree in industrial engineering, electronics, mechatronics, or a comparable qualification.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, especially when working with diverse interest groups and decision-makers.
- Strategic thinking and business acumen to make technical decisions aligned with overall strategy and stakeholder interests.
- Several years of experience successfully completing projects in an industrial environment.
- Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
- Solid knowledge of electronic components, hardware architectures, circuit design, manufacturing processes, and supply chains.
- Proficient in common tools for analysis and documentation (e.g., Excel, ERP systems, CAD/EDA tools).
- Experience with PLM (Project Lifecycle Management) systems and processes, preferably Oracle Agile, SAP, and hardware development tools such as Mentor Graphics — or a strong interest in developing into this direction.
- Knowledge of DfX, especially DfM (Design for Manufacturing) for PCBs and PCAs.
- Experience in value engineering and product optimization.
What you bring:
- Enjoyment of teamwork with colleagues from other disciplines and a proactive, structured, and independent working style.
- Willingness to take responsibility and motivate a team.
- Ability to confidently represent your views to internal and external partners.
- Openness, curiosity, and enthusiasm, combined with a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration with people from diverse cultures.
- Quick comprehension and a mindset guided by analytical and mathematical thinking.
- Passion for electronics!
- The renowned pleasant working environment at Agilent.
- A team that values recognition and respect.
- Diverse opportunities for personal and professional development.
- Freedom to implement your own ideas.
- A highly motivated, international, and interdisciplinary environment.
- Support from a broad and experienced team.
- Family-friendly and flexible working hours (working time account).
- Attractive compensation, company pension plan, and extensive social benefits.
- A modern company campus with infrastructure, cafeteria, and free beverages.
- Annual employee events.
- A leisure club with a wide range of activities.
