DeutscheBack is a manufacturer of baking ingredients and premixes for bread, rolls, and fine baked goods. We are part of the Stern-Wywiol Group, a dynamic and independent group of companies with 14 operations in Germany and 20 international subsidiaries worldwide.
As a (Senior) Application Technologist Baking, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing products and ensuring their suitability for our customers' applications. The primary focus is on creating innovative solutions, driving new product launches, and exploring the use of new technologies across various areas.
- Develop products in collaboration with Sales, Product Management, Research, and Marketing teams
- Formulate recipes, conduct experiments, and run lab-scale trials to optimize product performance
- Work directly with customers to understand their specific challenges, provide technical support, and advise on product selection, usage, and troubleshooting
- Design and execute application and lab tests
- Analyze test data, interpret results, create technical reports, and recommend product improvements or modifications
- Participate in or lead cross-functional projects depending on your level of experience
- Collaborate with Quality Control teams and Global Quality & Standards
- Work with interdisciplinary teams such as Master Data Management, Research, Marketing, Sales, Production, and Global Quality & Standards
- Plan and deliver training sessions and workshops for internal teams, sales staff, and customers
- Continuously explore new technologies, ingredients, and processing methods
- Identify emerging customer needs and derive new opportunities for product development
- Completed vocational training in baking or a related field; further qualification as a food technician and/or certified master baker; alternatively, a degree in food technology or a similar field
- Professional experience in the areas mentioned above and in product development
- Experience working with enzymes and other raw materials in various applications
- Expertise in developing baking agents and new products
- Skilled in conducting and preparing raw material and product analyses, as well as baking trials
- Experience in training new sales colleagues on products
- Willingness to relocate to the Hamburg metropolitan region
- Excellent English skills; German desirable, additional languages are a plus
- Strong team spirit and ability to collaborate well with colleagues
