The Challenge
In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in managing and optimizing our power and gas supply portfolio. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing portfolio risks: Actively manage DVR (Demand Variantion Risk), Commodity price risk, and BMR (Balancing Market Risk) exposures for our power and gas supply portfolio, ensuring operational timing and implementing effective risk reduction measures for short and long term tenors.
- Strategic development and optimization: Data driven analysis on portfolio behavior and translation into hedges and mitigation strategies.
- Maximizing portfolio value: Understand E2E value chain and identify influencing factors on overall portfolio values. Facilitate the realization of portfolio effects across different countries, with the overarching goal of maximizing value for the entire portfolio.
- Stakeholder engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal interfaces and peers as well as across other E.ON companies.
- Projects and improvement: Actively drive business needs through to the successful implementation and continuous improvement of processes.
Your Background That Convinces
We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual with a robust background in energy portfolio management. Your qualifications should include:
- Education: A university degree in engineering, economics, mathematics, finance, or a comparable discipline.
- Operational experience: Proven operational experience in European power and gas wholesale trading (both forward and short-term markets).
- Market and portfolio expertise: Extensive knowledge of wholesale energy markets and significant experience in portfolio management.
- Financial acumen (desired): Knowledge of financial statements, credit analysis, and risk management practices is highly desired.
- Analytical and organizational skills: A strong analytical and structured way of thinking, combined with excellent organizational skills.
- Team player with initiative: Enjoy working both independently and within a highly motivated team, coupled with a willingness to take on responsibility.
- Communication and assertiveness: Excellent communication skills, assertiveness, and a strong sense of engagement.
- Growth mindset: A proactive approach to learning and personal development.
- Language and technical skills: Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English are essential. Strong expertise in Python and SQL including machine learning, optimisations and advanced statistics.
