We are in search of an experienced, motivated, inquisitive, and results-oriented individual to help us build a robotic system in our newly formed AgTech department. ZEISS started a large strategic initiative to leverage our capabilities to bring robotic solutions to high-end greenhouses, with an initial focus on labor automation. Therefore, we established a dedicated team to drive this effort with a start-up like mindset within ZEISS.
As the selected candidate, you will play a crucial role in development, simulation, integration and testing of different robotic features for our agriculture robot. You will play a key role in developing and testing robotic movements and setting up simulation environment for testing and training. Additionally, you will support the development and improvement of required ML models and algorithms. We are looking for someone with hands-on mentality that drives in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Development and testing of trajectory planning algorithms
• Setup simulation environment to test trajectory planning and computer vision models as well as design options for robotic solution
• Generate synthetic training data for computer vision models including depth and instance level segmentation masks
• Facilitate system development and test the functionality of critical components and the entire robotic system in simulation and real world
• Define safety requirements for mobile base
• Robot fleet management
• Supervise students and coordinate the technical work with partners
• A degree with excellent grades in computer sciences, robotics, or mechatronic engineering
• Experience in trajectory planning, robotic software platforms (e.g., ROS), machine learning and robotics simulation
• Keen interest in investigating complex problems and drive labor automation solutions
• A resourceful team player with a willingness to help others succeed
• Proficiency in English, both in written and spoken communication. German is a plus
