Senior Data Scientist (m/f/d) – AI / GenAI

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to design and build scalable AI and GenAI products to transform our clients' business models and enable their growth. In this role, you'll combine deep technical expertise with strategic vision to build AI-powered solutions that are scalable, impactful, and business-driven.

Simon-Kucher is at the forefront of innovation in our space, inventing business models, algorithms, solutions, and methodologies for unlocking better growth of our clients. And Simon-Kucher Engine's digital end-to-end solutions deliver sustained top-line impact for our clients. Are you interested in working in a team of digital evangelists with a can-do attitude? Want to experience the dynamics of agile processes in open-minded teams? How about getting creative in a startup atmosphere with a steep development curve and flat hierarchies? And most importantly, do you want to make a difference? Then you've come to the right place.

Simon-Kucher is a global consultancy with more than 2,000 employees in 30+ countries.
Our sole focus is on unlocking better growth that drives measurable revenue and profit for our clients. We achieve this by optimizing every lever of their commercial strategy – product, price, innovation, marketing, and sales – based on deep insights into what customers want and value. With 40 years of experience in monetization topics of all kinds, we are regarded as the world's leading pricing and growth specialist.
We believe in building a culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, creating an environment in which our people feel valued, are able to be themselves and feel their contribution matters. If we get that right, remarkable things will happen; people will grow faster, innovate, feel valued, and create better outcomes for everyone – our people, our clients and, of course, our business.

  • Design and deliver AI solutions by translating complex business challenges into practical ML and GenAI use cases, from rapid prototypes to production-ready systems.
  • Build and scale applications with robust APIs, low-latency performance, and reliable deployment in real-world environments.
  • Evaluate models holistically, using advanced metrics (e.g., factuality, relevance, coherence) and implementing human-in-the-loop guardrails to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Champion responsible AI by embedding fairness, ethics, privacy, and governance into every stage of development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities and balance innovation with business feasibility and ROI.
  • Bridge research and production by staying ahead of the latest GenAI advances and adapting them into pragmatic, scalable solutions.
  • Lead and mentor junior data scientists, while clearly communicating complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leverage strong technical foundations with a pragmatic, product-focused mindset to lead technical discussions and drive architecture decisions.

  • You have 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist and hold a degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics).
  • You have solid expertise in machine learning, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, along with experience in model evaluation, interpretability, and deployment.
  • You are hands-on with deep learning and GenAI, working with transformers, LLMs, diffusion models, and multimodal AI.
  • You know how to fine-tune models, design prompts, apply RAG, LoRA, or PEFT—and you understand their limitations, from hallucinations to alignment challenges.
  • You are fluent in Python (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and comfortable with MLOps tools like MLflow, Weights & Biases, Vertex AI, or SageMaker.
  • You have strong skills in data handling, from preprocessing and feature engineering to building robust pipelines, and you've worked with large-scale data (SQL, Spark, distributed systems).
  • You follow best practices in software engineering, including CI/CD, testing, and modular design.
  • You may also bring extended expertise with vector databases and semantic search (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS), orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), or cloud AI platforms such as AWS.
  • Perhaps you've experimented with large-scale fine-tuning or explored multi-agent/autonomous AI workflows.
  • Above all, you are curious, collaborative, and impact-driven, excited to take cutting-edge AI research and turn it into scalable, real-world solutions.

  • Advance your career with exciting professional opportunities in our thriving company with an entrepreneurial and startup spirit
  • Enhance your technical expertise while working on AI and GenAI products that drive business growth, create positive impact, and truly matter to our clients.
  • Voice your unique ideas in a corporate culture defined by openness and integrity

  • Feel at home working with our helpful, enthusiastic colleagues who have great team spirit
  • Broaden your perspective with our extensive training curriculum and learning programs (e.g. LinkedIn Learning)
  • Speak your mind in our holistic feedback and development processes (e.g. 360-degree feedback)
  • Satisfy your need for adventure with our opportunities to live and work abroad in one of our many international offices
  • Enjoy our benefits, such as hybrid working, daycare allowance, corporate discounts, and wellbeing support (e.g. Headspace).
  • Unwind in our break areas where you can help yourself to the healthy snacks and beverages provided
