  • Serve as the central contact point for sustainable materials within ZEISS, driving synergies across business units.
  • Build competency in the field by actively screening for new opportunities that align with realistic time-to-market scenarios and market needs.
  • Emphasize compliance with safety regulations, functional substitution, reducing hazardous chemicals, and addressing geopolitical tensions and material scarcities.
  • Ensure early involvement of manufacturability in the ideas generated by the team.
  • Act as a joint competency center for future initiatives, focusing on application pull.
  • Function as an innovation unit within the Corporate Research and Development Department for ZEISS, emphasizing technology push and screening for new business opportunities in the field of sustainable materials.

  • Expertise and passion in sustainable materials, focusing on bio-based, recyclable, long-lifetime, low-emission, and SSbD materials, with experience in projects enhancing circularity and reducing emissions.
  • A degree in Material Science, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Process Engineering, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to sustainable materials.
  • Proficiency in material testing, life cycle analysis, and sustainability assessments.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to actively shape a topic field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both German and English, with excellent presentation abilities.

  • A commitment to environmental sustainability and circular economy principles.
  • Ability to identify market needs and opportunities for innovation in sustainable materials.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, functional substitution, and innovations in recycling and material longevity.
