We're hiring a Systems Engineer to join our Platform team in Lindau, Germany - supporting real-world vehicle deployments and shaping how Zendar integrates its cutting-edge radar and sensor stack.

To support our growing team, we're looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Platform team. The Platform team is in charge of integrating all components of our data collection and demo system together for the end user, collaborating with the HW, FW, ML and Infrastructure team.
Your day-to-day might include:
- Integrating a new sensor into our data pipeline
- Adding a feature to our in-car UI
- Physically building/upgrading demo vehicle systems
- Diagnosing live system issues in the field
As a result, this role is perfect for someone who is comfortable managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously, enjoys interacting frequently with other engineers, and takes pride in keeping a system up and running.
The Platform team currently consists of 5 engineers located in Berkeley, California, you will be joining as the first engineer of the Platform team in Lindau, Germany. Zendar has two vehicles for data collection and customer demos in Lindau for you to support so you will be busy working with our local team on their needs and aligning with our Berkeley team to build the best team practices and technologies together.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and support sensor configurations on a vehicle in the field, including firmware flashing, system testing, and issue debugging.
- Integrate a wide range of sensors, combining both third-party components and in-house hardware/firmware.
- Design and implement software systems for data collection and real-time demonstration use cases.
- Ability to work from the office in Lindau, Germany, at least from Tuesday to Thursday
- 3+ years of experience supporting a live system
- 3+ years of experience with software development
- Proficiency with Python and C++
- Experience working with hardware (e.g. sensors, Arduinos, robots)
- Great communication and teamwork skills, willingness to actively collaborate with a team in the US
- Eagerness to challenge yourself and learn new things
- A proactive approach to solving problems and willingness to take on new challenges as they arise
- Fluency in English
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Javascript
- Experience with automotive sensor integration (radar, lidar, camera, CANbus)
- Experience with working with Linux
- Prior experience of supporting data collection operation
- A track record of excelling in ambiguous or evolving roles in a fast-paced environment
