The Head Electrician at our shipyard plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing electrical systems, installations on serial production catamaran. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality.
- Manage a team of electricians, delegating tasks and ensuring adherence to schedules and safety protocols.
- Short term and midterm planning.
- Coordinate and execute electrical installations and maintenance on ships and marine structures.
- Conduct inspections and assessments of electrical systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and operations, to ensure smooth project execution and compliance with regulations.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including work orders, reports, and maintenance logs.
- Train and mentor junior electricians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
- Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to marine electrical systems.
- Respond to emergencies and provide troubleshooting support as needed.
- Maintain inventory of electrical supplies and equipment, coordinating procurement as necessary.
- Uphold a culture of safety, ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience as an electrician, preferably in a marine or shipyard environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a team.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid electrician's license or certification.
- Physical stamina and agility to work in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Proficiency in reading technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Additional certifications or training in marine electrical systems.
- Familiarity with marine-specific electrical regulations and standards (e.g., ABS, SOLAS).
