Manager Analytical & Data Science (m/f/d)


Lead a team advancing analytical methods and predictive models to enhance understanding and performance of biotech-derived ingredients. Strengthen data-driven decision-making across global R&D sites through robust statistical tools, standardized methods, and real-time data insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analytical Development
    • Develop & validate methods for product characterisation (rheology, crystal morphology, impurity profiling, etc.)
    • Define critical quality attributes for new ingredients
  • Data Science & Modeling
    • Build predictive models linking molecular structure to functional performance
    • Apply multivariate analysis, DoE, and real-time data pipelines
  • Leadership & Standardisation
    • Lead a small team of scientists and assistants
    • Standardising analytical SOPs and QA/QC metrics across sites
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Ensure method transfer to QC and MSAT teams
    • Interface with external labs and customers to support analytics and troubleshooting

  • MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Data Science or similar
  • ≥2 years' industry experience in analytical method development and/or data science within an R&D environment
  • Skilled in analytical instrumentation (rheometers, laser diffraction, XRD, GC-MS/LC-MS, and statistical tools (e.g., JMP, Python, R)
  • Experienced in DoE and modelling complex systems
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and strong cross-functional collaboration
  • Fluent written and spoken English skills; German language skills would be advantageous
