We are seeking a talented and experienced Software Architect to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the development and enhancement of our Fresenius Medical Care products, with a focus on In-Center Hemodialysis Machines. You will ensure that these products meet customer needs, comply with regulatory requirements, and align with our strategic goals.
You will play a key role in shaping high-level design decisions and in defining technical standards - including software coding standards, tools, and platforms - to help bring innovative medical technology solutions to market.
- You design the overall structure of a software system. This includes defining the system components or modules, their relationships, and how they will interact with each other.
- You take over the technical management of the development team, guiding them in implementing the architectural design. This may involve mentoring and ensuring that the development team adheres to the architectural vision.
- You choose the appropriate technologies, frameworks, and platforms for the project. This includes keeping up to date with industry trends and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of different technologies.
- You will support risk management to ensure and prove that the chosen design decision is safe and secure.
- You are responsible for ensuring that the software system performs efficiently. This includes optimizing code, selecting appropriate algorithms, and designing for scalability.
- You create and maintain comprehensive documentation of the software architecture.
- You collaborate with various stakeholders, including project managers and quality assurance, to ensure that the software architecture aligns with overall project goals and requirements.
- You stay informed about advancements in technology and industry best practices to maintain/support a state-of-the-art software architecture.
- At least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a comparable field
- Proven experience as a Software Architect or in a similar role, preferably in the MedTech and/or automotive industry
- A solid track record of performing similar tasks in your current or previous roles
- Experience with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
- Ideally, you are familiar with the following technologies and concepts:
- Safety & Standards: Functional Safety
- Programming & Modeling: Modern C++, UML, SysML, DocAsCode
- Communication Protocols: DDS, CAN
- Operating Systems & Platforms: Linux, Unix, QNX, Real-Time Operating Systems, AUTOSAR Adaptive
- Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Strong affinity to physics-related domains such as fluidics, pneumatics, mechanics, and electronics
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment
- Professional English skills are mandatory; German is a plus
- Composure and resilience under pressure, with the ability to stay focused and effective in challenging situations
