Job Description

PURPOSE OF JOB:

Receives and prepares samples for laboratory analysis and tests. Prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests and reads, interprets and releases results. May perform a variety of client service activities for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Must be proficient in at least three clinical areas including Hematology
  • Process samples and prepare samples for send out.
  • Perform all required quality control per QA guidelines.
  • Train on all areas to include Processing, Chemistry, Hematology, UA and Coag according to all SOP's.
  • Oversee the entering and releasing of results.
  • Responsible for the performance of tests such as Chemistry –Beckman, Hormones - Immulite, CBC-Advia / Sysmex, Urine status and sediment, Coag, Serology – ELISA and IFA tests
  • Participate in all departmental training programs.
  • Reconcile pending list.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

TESTS PERFORMED:

  • Chemistry:
    • General Chemistry Panels, Urine Chemistry Panels, CSF; standard Hormones and Vitamins
  • Hematology:
    • CBC, Manual Differentials, CSF-Counts, Avian CBC, Coag
  • Serology:
    • ELISA, IFA, agglutination tests

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Desirable is a completed vocational training as VMTA / MTLA / TFA/ BTA (m/f/d) or comparable medical training.
  • Clinical laboratory experience in Hematology (at least 1 year)
  • Clinical laboratory experience in Chemistry, Parasitology and Serology
  • Experience in ICP-MS and HPLC would be an advantage

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Laboratory skills and experience
  • Fluency in the German language
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Travel upto 30% required
