KGaA is searching for a talented and motivated Technical Assistant (m/f/d) to join our Genome Editing Trait Discovery group at our global headquarters in Einbeck, Germany. What we offer is an attractive position that combines working in both applied research and high-throughput services. In frame of a research project you will have the opportunity to support the development of in-vivo haploid induction systems. In parallel, by strengthening our in-house RNA-service team you will support expression analysis as basis for GenEd candidate gene nomination.
This is a full-time position with an initial 2-year fixed-term contract, potentially leading to a permanent role. We're excited to fill it as soon as possible!
Your responsibilities:
- Support our research activities by conducting molecular biological experiments (Cloning, PCR, DNA extraction)
- Support our RNA Service team with RNA extractions and quantification of DNA and transcript levels via qPCR and qRT-PCR, respectively
- Organize trials with transgenic plants in greenhouses and climate chambers, including crossings, sampling and monitoring
- Precise documentation of results using ELN and LIMS
- Contribute to general lab maintenance
Bring in your potential:
- Completed training as ATA, LTA, BTA, bachelor's or master's degree in life science or any other comparable qualifications
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, restriction digest, gel electrophoresis and cloning are required
- Know-how in RNA extraction, qPCR and qRT-PCR are a plus
- Willingness to conduct repetitive lab work in frame of an in-house service while ensuring a high level of accuracy and diligence
- High level of motivation and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
- Excellent team player with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
- Good communication skills in English are mandatory and German language skills are a plus
