Job Description

The VDMA represents 3,600 German and European mechanical and plant engineering companies. The industry stands for innovation, export orientation and SMEs. The companies employ around 3 million people in the EU-27, more than 1.2 million of them in Germany alone. This makes mechanical and plant engineering the largest employer among the capital goods industries, both in the EU-27 and in Germany. In the European Union, it represents a turnover volume of an estimated 910 billion euros. Around 80 percent of the machinery sold in the EU comes from a manufacturing plant in the single market.

Join us in Berlin or Brussels as our new Deputy Managing Director Power-to-X for Applications (m/f/d).

VDMA Power-to-X for Applications is a central, cross-industry information, communication and cooperation platform for the P2X community, bringing together all key stakeholders and players involved in the development of manufacturing processes, the production of synthetic fuels and raw materials using Power-to-X technologies, and end users. Through its activities, it promotes a holistic and technology-neutral approach to the transformation of energy systems and raises public awareness of environmentally friendly energy use and mobility.


  • Monitoring current legislative developments on hydrogen and power-to-X on German and European level
  • Development of position papers and lobby work in European and German politics
  • Participation in stakeholder forums and working groups of German ministries and the EU Commission
  • Preparing and chairing politically specific
  • committees on behalf of VDMA P2X4A and maintaining close contact with member companies
  • Representation of VDMA P2X4A at industry forums and conferences and providing content support for public relations work
  • Maintaining and expanding networks with stakeholders from the industry, different associations and NGOs in Berlin and Brussels
  • Participation in VDMA-internal projects and projects on the topic of transformation and climate policy

  • University degree in political science, sociology, industrial engineering or a comparable field
  • Experience in political advocacy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a hands-on mentality
  • Very good command of English and German
  • Willingness to take European and sporadic international business trips
