Bid Manager (m/f/d)

As our Bid Manager (m/f/d), your primary objective is to successfully lead and manage the End-to-End bid process to secure new business opportunities and specific contract renewals for our organization, starting from an indicative offer to a binding proposal and an agreed contract signature. This role involves a combination of project management, development of a commercial and technical solution, a general (sales) strategic thinking approach, stakeholder management and effective communication in a cross-functional project environment in the Data Center service industry.


  • Leading the creation of high-quality key sales deliverables (proposals, customer presentation, contract packs, approval material and other deal-related documentation), including supporting the definition of the sales strategy and tactics to increase our win ratio
  • Coordinate, examine, and scrutinize the final contracts and proposals
  • Effectively manage the bid process from qualification to project handover to delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, technical experts, finance, legal, etc., to gather the necessary information and insights required for a winning proposal
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with the bid and develop strategies to mitigate those risks. This includes a deep understanding of commercial, legal, and compliance requirements and solutions
  • Understand the specific data center services related to technical demands and the key commercial terms and conditions
  • Ensure that the solution aligns with the organization's financial goals and objectives
  • Play an active role in contract negotiation: leading or participating in the contract negotiations with a client organization in cooperation with all internal subject matter experts
  • Effectively communicate with customers about our technical capabilities and commercial proposition in written and oral communication. Comprehensive internal communication and documentation of the project status to the team and the stakeholders

  • Commercial, engineering, or information technology degree
  • Multiple years of bid-management professional experience, ideally in the data center colocation industry or with a provider of complex technical systems and/or solutions or in a comparable industry with complex pursuits (e.g. telecommunication, manufacturing, facility services)
  • High affinity for sales and proposal development including a strong understanding of and experience in drafting legal documents and commercial solutions contract terms
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to communicate effectively and build relationships at all levels, internally and with clients
  • Ability to interpret often complex and technically detailed opportunities including contracts, technical requirements, and commercial models
  • Strong Project Management skills include adapting PM methods for an agile and dynamic environment, including the capability to identify pragmatic solutions and clear tasking to tight timeframes with a proactive and anticipation approach
  • General understanding of data centre business related technical aspects, solutions and services
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong proficiency in verbal and written German and/or English
