Job Description

Outokumpu EvoCarbon is looking for a Plant controller to make an impact by supporting our project team in the installation of a state-of-the-art biochar plant in Sassnitz, Germany. This €40 million investment is a cornerstone of Outokumpu's mission to reduce climate impact by replacing fossil raw materials with sustainable alternatives. The plant will produce 15,000 tonnes of biochar annually, supporting the transition to usage of biocoke in our Ferrochrome production – cutting direct emissions by up to 50%.

During the construction phase you will ensure diligent cost reporting in line with Outokumpu's investment guidelines, and over time your role will develop into a business controller role, where you will manage all finance and controlling activities of the plant.

  • Finance business partner to the project team, and later the plant operations team
  • CAPEX and OPEX follow-up, forecasting and reporting during the construction phase
  • Support the project team in setting up and maintaining governance structures
  • Planning and implementation of finance and business processes for the future
  • Significant role in ERP project as plant finance lead
  • Annual planning & performance management of the plant
  • Support financial evaluation of any potential future investments at the site


  • University degree/professional qualification in Finance, Economics or similar
  • Relevant experience in business and/or financial controlling
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and development-oriented approach
  • Fluency in German and English
