We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Head of Global Communications and External Affairs, to lead and execute comprehensive communication strategies that enhance our reputation, engage key stakeholders, and drive our business objectives. This strategic leadership role will shape how we communicate globally, balancing both external and internal initiatives to support our company's mission and our corporate social responsibility commitments.

In this role, you will oversee global communications at Daimler Truck, including media relations, public affairs, corporate communications, and brand management. You will also be responsible for advancing internal communications, fostering transparency, inclusivity, and alignment across our global teams. Your leadership will ensure a unified narrative and consistent messaging that resonates with all stakeholders, internal and external.

You will report directly to Ms. Karin Rådström (CEO DTAG) and regularly update the Board of Management.

What You Can Expect / Main Challenges:

  • Develop and execute proactive, comprehensive communication strategies that align with our business vision and objectives.
  • Effectively manage relationships with government bodies and regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance and advocating for favorable policies.
  • Anticipate and address potential issues swiftly to safeguard the company's reputation.
  • Craft compelling narratives to engage customers, employees, partners, and the media, ensuring consistent messaging across diverse audiences.
  • Drive consistent messaging across both traditional and emerging communication channels, ensuring alignment across all touchpoints.
  • Inspire and mentor a high-performing globally distributed communication team, fostering performance and collaboration.

Requirements / Personality:

  • You are a strategic thinker, able to develop long-term communication plans that align with company goals and market dynamics.
  • With resilience and calm under pressure, you effectively manage crisis communications and handle sensitive issues with professionalism.
  • You can craft persuasive, compelling messages and influence a broad range of stakeholders.
  • You work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, cultivating a positive, cooperative work environment that emphasizes inclusion.

Why You Are a Match / Qualification:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a comparable field.
  • Extensive experience in media relations, with a well-established journalistic network.
  • Proven ability to communicate directly, transparently, and effectively with various stakeholders, including senior leadership and external parties.
  • Significant experience working in large, global organizations, ideally with a strong understanding of the automotive or manufacturing industries.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to adapt to different cultural contexts and communicate effectively across global teams.
  • Proficiency in both English and German.
