We are looking for a Scala Developer (d/f/m) to join our product development team FRIDA for a limited time period of 2 years. There might be the possibility to extend the time period or switch to an unlimted contract afterwards.
FRIDA analyzes customers' transactions and predicts their fraud probability. Using intelligent rule systems, FRIDA ensures that fraud correlations can be identified consistently. A comprehensive UI allows Fraud Managers to identify fraudulent transactions. Technical integration with customers' solutions deliver automatic notifications so clients can take immediate action.

In FRIDA, we use a modern tech stack, e.g. Scala, ZIO and PostgreSQL for the backend. We use functional programming constructs and optimize our product for performance and maintain rich functionality. On the frontend, we utilize ExtJS and jQuery for maintaining existing features, and we are also incorporating React for some developments. We offer a landscape of interesting technical challenges and a clear product vision. Our developers are empowered to own the entire software lifecycle, making key decisions on how to implement requirements.
  • Maintain the FRIDA product ensuring its stability
  • Add new features and continuously improve the quality of FRIDA
  • Refactor parts of the codebase when you see value in it
  • Participate in technical design of the system, propose your solutions
  • Collaborate with other Riskies, e.g. in pair programming sessions and code reviews
  • Be responsible for the full lifecycle of your code: from the initial idea through development and testing to deployment and operation
  • Be responsible for the quality of what you deliver

  • You are an experienced Scala Developer (min. 3 years) with experience and a passion for functional programming
  • Ideally you have experience in ZIO and are familiar with FP libraries like Cats-effect and Play
  • You know JavaScript and have experience with frontend development or willingness to learn
  • Experience with designing databases, optimising queries and working with PostgreSQL
  • You are a communicative team player who likes to discuss ideas openly and constructively
  • You like to take responsibility and ownership of your code
  • You care about quality and testing, taking into account the simplicity of your solutions
  • You have hands-on experience with operational environments, or the desire to learn how your software runs and what it takes to operate it
  • Fluent English language skills (German is not required)
  • As a plus:
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Github Actions and Ansible
