Research Scientist (m/f/x) – Translational Oncology, Tissue and Cell Research Center, Martinsried, limited

The position:

Do you want to join a global pharmaceutical company but prefer a small team with entrepreneurial spirit? Could you already collect experiences with project lead but don't want to miss the work at the bench? Join our Tissue & Cell Research Center, a preclinical R&D unit specialized in innovative research using human tissues and primary cells, based in Martinsried by Munich. This role is limited from September 2024 until February 2026.


  • Develop and validate innovative fit-for-purpose human tissue-based complex in vitro models to assess the pharmacological activity of novel therapeutic agents
  • Design, execute and monitor translational research projects to explore novel drug candidates, drug targets and biomarkers
  • Work in a team with research assistants but also conduct hands-on laboratory operations «at the bench» using human specimen
  • Introduce state-of-the-art technologies and maintain expertise in the field through literature reviews, attending relevant congresses and liaison with external experts in the field
  • Document, evaluate, interpret and present preclinical study results within given timelines
  • Closely collaborate with scientists in R&D Center in Tokyo and provide scientific and technical support for colleagues
  • Prepare and review reports and protocols to ensure the quality and integrity of data

  • Doctor's degree in Life Sciences and several years of relevant working experience in pharmaceutical industry, biotech or academia
  • Experience with complex in vitro models, assay development and validation
  • Hands-on laboratory experience and broad expertise in tissue processing, primary cell isolation and culturing, molecular biology and analytical techniques (e.g. flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry)
  • Strong background in the (immuno-)oncology, cancer drug discovery and/or biomarker field
  • Strong interest in translational research
  • Excellent organizational skills paired with flexibility and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Intercultural competence – ability to work in a global environment
  • Strong team player, open minded, showing a proactive approach and accountability
  • Strong English skills in written and spoken; effective verbal communication skills in German
