Marine Electric Systems STEM Scholarship

The Marine Electric Systems STEM Scholarship is an annual $2,500 award designed to support an outstanding student pursuing higher education in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline. This scholarship is exclusively available to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in a STEM-related program at an accredited college or university in the United States. Marine Electric Systems is committed to recognizing academic excellence in STEM fields and assisting dedicated STEM students in reaching their educational and professional aspirations.

The Marine Electric Systems Scholarship is a recurring yearly opportunity, awarded to one student each year.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply for the Marine Electric Systems Scholarship:

  • Enrollment : Currently enrolled in an STEM undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited U.S.-based college or university. (Only STEM fields of study are eligible.)
  • Academic Standing: In good academic standing at their institution. While there is no minimum GPA to apply, a strong academic record will strengthen your application.
  • Student Status: Open to full-time and part-time students, including those pursuing associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees.
  • Location: Institution must be based in the United States (U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students studying at U.S. institutions are all eligible).
  • One Application per Cycle: Each student may submit only one application for the current scholarship cycle. Previous applicants (who did not receive the award) are welcome to reapply in subsequent years.
  • Applying for the Marine Electric Systems Scholarship is straightforward. Please follow these steps to ensure your application is complete:

  • Choose Your Essay Topic: Review the essay prompt listed in the Essay Topics section below. Write an original essay of 500-700 words responding to that prompt. Make sure your essay is thoughtful, reflects your own ideas and experiences, and is written in your own words (essays must be original and not written by AI or plagiarized).
  • Prepare Your Transcript: Obtain a copy of your most recent academic transcript. An unofficial transcript is acceptable for the application, as long as it clearly shows your name, institution, coursework, and cumulative GPA. (If you are selected as the scholarship recipient, an official transcript may be requested for verification.)
  • Fill Out the Online Application Form: Visit the Marine Electric Systems Scholarship application form on our website. You will be asked to provide:
  • Personal Information: Your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address
  • Academic Information: Your college/university name, current program of study (major/degree), and expected graduation date.
  • Extracurricular & Achievements: Briefly list any relevant extracurricular activities, leadership roles, or community service involvements you would like the selection committee to know about.
  • Document Uploads: Upload your completed essay as a PDF file and attach your academic transcript (PDF or image format).
  • Submit Before the Deadline: Double-check that all parts of the application form are filled out accurately and that your essay and transcript are attached. Submit the form no later than August 20, 2025. After submission, you should receive a confirmation email that your application has been received.
  • Await Notification: The scholarship committee will review all applications after the deadline. The scholarship recipient will be selected based on the stated criteria (essay quality, academic performance, and extracurricular involvement). The winner will be contacted via email on September 10, 2025 (the announcement date). We will also announce the winner on our official website and social media channels on that date.
  • Essay Topics

    As part of your application, you must submit an original essay (500-700 words) on the topic below. 

    Remember: The essay must be written by you without assistance from AI tools or copying from other sources. Be honest, creative, and thoughtful in your response.

    • Essay Prompt : Describe a significant experience, challenge, or mentor that ignited your passion for your field of study. How has this influenced your academic journey and future aspirations?

     The essay should provide insight into your thinking, values, and goals. We encourage you to proofread your essay carefully for clarity, grammar, and originality. Strong essays will have a clear focus, share personal or thoughtful examples, and connect back to your educational and career ambitions.
