Who We Are
As part of the Georgetown University community, Biomedical Graduate Education offers an outstanding educational experience within one of the world’s leading academic and research institutions. Each year, BGE attracts more than 500 exceptional master’s, doctoral and dual degree students to one of its 26 degree-granting programs in fields such as biotechnology, bioinformatics, biohazardous threat agents, biomedical science policy, and complementary and alternative medicine.
Our Research
BGE is affiliated with the Biomedical Graduate Research Organization, which receives 53 percent of Georgetown University's sponsored research funding. This relationship gives our students access to cutting-edge research collaboration to enhance Georgetown University Medical Center’s basic science and translational research capacity, particularly in the areas of neurosciences, child health and human development, infectious diseases, and cancer biology with Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Our Location
Georgetown University’s location in the nation’s capital provides unparalleled access to leading scientific centers, institutes and government agencies. Many of our graduates have established careers with the National Institutes of Health, the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, the Naval Medical Research Institute, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Department of Homeland Security. In addition, Georgetown is located within minutes from Montgomery County’s I-270 Biotechnology Corridor, which is home to over 200 of the country’s leading biotechnology companies.
